GET TO KNOW ME

A level 6 dressage rider who has done a couple Inter1 and PSG tests on my old stallion Campion KSNZ before on-selling him at the end of the 2022-2023 season, this season 2023-2024 I am now focusing on level 5 dressage on the gorgeous GRP stallion Golden Strike.

A Show Hunter rider when I have time to get into the ring jumping to 1.10m however I currently have no Show Hunter horse as my only jumping horse is my 6 year old mare Mocha (by Corofino 11 out of Auburn Princess). My biggest achievements would be aboard Tiraumea Curious George at HOY where we were Reserve Champion Amateur Show Hunter and aboard Dorofino who was 5 when she won the Amatuer Show Hunter Title at Nationals. I have been very successful in the Show Hunter ring before changing discipline to dressage.

I teach lessons full time, ranging in ages and abilities as well as running the agistment side of my property. Spring and Summer is always a busy time with breeding season, standing Golden Strike at stud. I have just recently set up a new pony stud- Arbek Pony Stud with 3 foundation mares: Roseglen Aphrodite, TF All Hallows Eve and Summer Gift. Over spring I help out on the family dairy farm doing the calf rearing.

My passion is giving lessons and teaching children and adults alike and especially working on solid foundations, rider position and correct horse training. I love seeing progress in not only riders but their horses and ponies as well and I try to set everyone up on a correct path for success in the future.

My qualifications since leaving secondary education has been my Certificate in Vetereinary Nursing, my A and H certificate for Pony Club and finally in December 2017 my Diploma of Equitation Science. Equitation Science is the basis to how all horses learn so I have based all of my horse training and lesson philosophies around this training.

Thoughts on Horse Training

"You are either training your horse good things or bad things with each interaction, choose wisely."
